Our School

Ashton St Peter’s VA Primary School was first founded in 1861 by the generosity of its founder Mrs Frances Ashton. She wanted to establish a school in Dunstable to provide education for the children of the town, based on Christian values.

Christian values are still at the very heart of all that we do today at Ashton St Peter’s. A strong Christian ethos and ‘Values Education’ permeate  school life and enrich the learning opportunities provided for all.

Ashton St. Peter’s Church of England VA Primary School started in a Victorian School House, directly opposite the Priory Church in Church Street Dunstable. That building was modernised just before for the school’s centenary in 1961. After 145 years on the Church Street site, it was decided to relocate to West Parade.

In 2006 the children and staff moved into our new school building in West Parade. The building was officially dedicated by the Bishop of St. Albans, the Right Reverend Christopher Herbert, on the 12th  March 2007.

We are hugely proud of our school and take pride in the warm and welcoming feeling you get walking through the front door. It is an environment where happy children feel safe and eager to learn.
