Welcome from the Chair of Governors
Welcome to the Ashton St Peter’s Church of England VA Primary School website.

We hope that it gives you an insight into the school and a snapshot of the facilities and activities that we offer.
I take this opportunity to introduce myself as the newly appointed Chair of Governors. I am conscious that it will be difficult to follow in the footsteps of my predecessor, but my commitment to you, is that I will do my utmost to strive to make the school the best that it can be.
The Governing Body is made up of representatives from the St Albans Diocese, the Ashton Foundation, Parents, Staff and the Local Authority. Its main responsibilities are to determine the aims and overall direction of the school, with a view to promoting high standards of educational attainment. This requires active involvement in the strategic development and financial management of the school, as required by law.
We also see ourselves as mentors and friends to the school community. Governors often visit the school to hear children read or assist in the classroom or with extra-curricular activities. We are also delighted to be able to attend performances and displays put on by the children.
The Christian ethos of the school underpins the decisions that we make and the attitudes that we model. Within our school community, everyone is encouraged to support and motivate those around them.
This is best achieved as a partnership between the children, parents/carers and the entire school team. Great things are achieved by those who belong to the school community.
I look forward to meeting you at one of our many school events and wish your child every happiness within the school.
