We have also been learning how to form and write each letter too.

Maths

We have been learning all about numbers to 5 and how to count carefully, saying one number for each object.  We have also been looking at the composition of 5, such as the number bonds: 5 + 0, 4 + 1, 3 + 2 and how to compare different groups and which one has more, fewer and the same.

We have been learning how to use cubes and a five frame.

Topic: Bonfire Night

We have been learning all about Bonfire Night and Fireworks.  We have been looking at sound vocabulary such as: whoosh, bang, crash, screech, boom and how they match the fireworks.  In art, we have been looking at printing, using toilet rolls to make fireworks.

Topic: Diwali

We have been learning all about the Hindu story of Rama and Sita and how Rama rescued Sita from the terrible Demon God: Ravana, with help from the Monkey God: Hanuman.  We made Diva Lamps out of clay and when they dried we then painted them.  Lastly, we painted Rangoli patterns, that Hindu’s put on the paths outside their front door.

Topic: Autumn

We have been learning all about Autumn and the changes in our environment.  We went on an autumn walk and hunted for conkers, acorns and leaves.  We looked at the colours of reds, oranges, yellows and browns.  Lastly, we looked at what will happen to the animals that live in our town, that some will be hibernating.
