Key information

• Reading books are changed every Monday and Thursday. Children need to have read their book at least twice before it is changed. 
• PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child comes to school with a named PE kit on these days.
• Library books are changed on a Friday, so children will need to bring their books in on this day.
• Children can be dropped off at the outside classroom door between 8:45am and 9:00am and collected from the same place at 3:30pm.

What have we been learning:

Maths

In our Maths lessons, we have been learning about place value and addition and subtraction. We have been counting, ordering object and numbers and have started to place numbers on a number line. We have also learned how to use ‘whole-part’ models, which has helped us understand that two numbers can be added in any order to find the total.

Science

Our first topic in Science was about our bodies and our senses. We started off by creating life-size pictures of ourselved and labelling different body parts. We then enjoyed uses our senses of smell and taste to identify different food items.

RE

This half term we have already started thinking about Christmas and how people prepare for it. We have ordered the events in the Nativity story and Reverend Rachel came in to talk to us about what happens in church during the period of Advent.

PE

We began the year by learning skills for different ball games and applying these to football. We are now focusing on gymnastics and dance during our PE lessons and we have loved finding lots of different way to create shapes with our bodies.
